Friends of Skagit Beaches was established in 2008 by a group of Skagit County Beach Watcher Volunteers to develop local financial support for the WSU Skagit County Beach Watcher program through memberships, donations and other fundraising activities. We are a registered 501c3 nonprofit corporation with the State of Washington.
Friends of Skagit Beaches is closely affiliated with the WSU Skagit County Beach Watchers Program and the local program coordinator serves as an ex-officio member of our Board of Directors. Our members include active Beach Watcher volunteers and community supporters who through their membership fees and donations support local marine education and stewardship programs.
Our Board of Directors is made up of graduates of the Skagit Beach Watchers training who volunteer their time and experience to the management and guidance of Friends as part of their Beach Watcher service commitment. Current members are eligible to nominate and vote for Board members.
