Join us for our 8th annual great day of learning and discovery brought to you by Friends of Skagit Beaches. Spend a day with top scientists and local community leaders presenting on a wide range of topics. This year our Keynote Speaker will be Jack Hartt, who retired in 2017 after 40 years in the Washington State Park system – 14 of those years as the Park Manager at Deception Pass State Park. He will present “Love and Beauty in the Time of Turbulence”. Basing his talk on reflections from a new forest monitoring project in the Anacortes Community Forest Lands, Jack will emphasize how we have within ourselves and among ourselves the resources to make a difference and will weave together the rhythms of hope and encouragement that keeps us harmonizing in the coming turbulent times. Choose 3 from 6 breakout sessions such as “Sharks of Washington State”; “Wetlands: What are They and Why should we Care?”; “Tying Indigenous Science to Modern Day Research and Restoration”; and much more. Registration is required. By mail, registration deadline is Oct. 14 and online is Oct. 17th. Please get your tickets soon! Visit www.skagitbeaches.org to register online as well as Friends of Skagit Beaches Facebook page to learn more. Also, call (360) 299-0641 for more information/questions. Free clock hours (5) available to educators.
